WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MICRODERMABRASION AND THE BENEFITS TO YOUR SKIN

It’s still one of the most talked about skincare treatments out there and although it has become incredibly popular, I understand you may still have questions about whether it’s the right treatment for you.

"Reveal Your Best Skin Yet with Microdermabrasion"

You may have heard it being called the 30 minute face lift or the amazing summer glow for your skin. To let you in on all the you need to know, keep reading.

The first question to answer is, what is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skincare procedure that uses really tiny crystals to help remove dead skin cells. The trick is, when you remove the top layer of the skin or the stratum corneum, the brain interprets this as an injury. Which tells your body to go and heal the area with new and healthy skin cells. This procedure takes around 30mins at a time if done as a facial treatment.

The microdermabrasion machine will also buff and polish the skin using a stream of crystals or diamond tips.

The process is entirely safe, but with anything that disrupts or penetrates the surface of your skin, it’s best to have this carried out by a professional. Many people prefer to have microdermabrasion treatment over chemical peels as it is cost effective and takes less time to heal.

With microdermabrasion, you may feel a little twinge with a little discomfort, but the procedure doesn’t hurt. You will experience slight tenderness post treatment and a little redness, but that goes away within a couple of hours.

The amount of treatments you have will determine how effective microdermabrasion is on your skin. Straight after the treatment you will notice a change in the texture, clarity and elasticity of your skin. We do recommend having a treatment every four weeks and the earlier you begin the better, especially if you are between 35 and 50 years old.

The benefits of microdermabrasion certainly outweigh the slight discomfort you will feel during the process. It is great if you have uneven skin tone, fine lines and clogged pores. If you have issues with acne microdermabrasion will stimulate blood flow to the skin, which increases the amount of nutrition sent to your skin cells. Having this healthy increase in nutrition will boost cell production, improve your skins texture and elasticity.

So, if you are worried about this treatment and how it helps with acne, you will be happy to know that it’s an amazing option, that also helps to reduce acne scars.

Although great for your skin, we do not recommend having microdermabrasion treatments if you have any of the following skin conditions:

  • Rosacea

  • Eczema

  • Dermatitis

  • Active Sunburn

  • Herpes

  • Lupus

  • Open Sores

  • Psoriasis

  • Fragile Capillaries

  • Widespread Acne

Microdermabrasion may cause skin irritation and further breakouts if you have any of the skin conditions above.
